Alan Parker

Alan Parker is Professor of Translational Virotherapies and Head of Solid Cancers at Cardiff University School of Medicine.
Alan performed his PhD at the University of Birmingham, before postdoc positions at King’s College London, followed by the University of Glasgow. He then held a Royal Society of Edinburgh Personal Fellowship, before relocating to Cardiff in 2013 to develop his own independent laboratory. Alan now heads the Viral ImmunoTherapies and Advanced therapeutics Laboratory (VITAL) who study the adenovirus, working from basic structural insights through to developing refined “precision virotherapies” for translational oncology applications.
Alan has been an elected board member of BSGCT since 2014, and treasurer since 2020.
