We warmly welcome you to the BSGCT 2026 annual conference in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Cell and gene therapies are driving an exciting and revolutionary new paradigm in science and healthcare. The North of England has a well-developed and networked scientific and clinical infrastructure, from bench to bedside, in these advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) and their enabling technologies. We are also well-connected to other UK networks and structures, most notably the UKRI Advanced Therapy Treatment Centres (ATTCs), and national infrastructure including the MRC/LifeArc Gene Therapy Innovation and Manufacturing Centre (GTMIC) in Sheffield, and the National Horizons Centre (NHC) on Teesside.
The North of England is extensively involved in advanced therapy development, evaluation and clinical delivery, with world-class academics, innovation infrastructure, investors, SMEs and pharmaceutical companies. The North is home to two out of the four UK ATTCs: the Innovate Manchester Advanced Therapy Centre (iMATCH) Hub and the Northern Alliance Advanced Therapy Treatment Centre (NA-ATTC) which spans the North of England and Scotland.
The North makes a significant contribution to both improved patient outcomes and the economic contribution of advanced therapies to the UK economy through discovery research, translational research, innovation, commercialisation, and deployment.
