Constitution Changes Call

Dear Member,

At this year’s BSGCT AGM we are undertaking a consultation to amend and update the BSGCT Constitution. The Board has worked on reviewing and updating the new draft constitution and now share the draft with the membership to gather any feedback. As such a track changed copy of the consultation is available to view HERE and the changes will be considered and voted on at the 2025 AGM.

Some of the proposed changes merely reflect updated terminology and the current way the Society works, however the Board would also like to draw the Membership’s attention to some specific proposed changes.

We propose to adjust the Early Career Representative (ECR) definition in the Constitution to: “BSGCT defines an ECR as any individual actively engaged in research within the field of gene and cell therapy who is at an early stage of their career. This includes individuals working within industry from apprentices up to but excluding those in a senior research leadership role; and individuals in academia from graduate students up to but excluding those who have a permanent position”. We believe that the updated definition is a significant improvement, notably in its inclusivity and broader representation.

We ask Members to submit any feedback via the contact email address below and to do this by 20th April 2025.

We will then proceed to present the proposed changes and vote on them through those members present at the AGM, to be held at the next BSGCT Annual Meeting on the 20th June 2025.

Feedback should be sent by email to:

Ivana Barbaric

General Secretary, British Society for Gene and Cell Therapy

Email: secretary@bsgct.org

DEADLINE 20th April 2025.
